The different departments of UNHCR in the India office offer internships to young people throughout the year. The duration of internships normally lasts between two and six months.

Internships are offered depending on the availability of meaningful assignments and the needs and capacity of units/offices to receive and supervise interns. There is no deadline for sending in an application form.

Applications must be submitted in the standard UNHCR Internship Application with indicated attachments only. Please do not send photographs, publications etc. at this stage.

Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to respond to each applicant. Only the accepted applicants will receive email communication from UNHCR by the end of the processing month. If your application interests one of our departments, the relevant manager will contact you directly for purposes of an interview/ further information etc, prior to decision on your application.

Where we work in India


UNHCR's operation in India is based in New Delhi and has an office in Chennai. In New Delhi, UNHCR conducts mandate Refugee Status Determination (RSD) for individual asylum seekers from non-neighbouring countries, with the exception of Myanmar.
